Nova Scotia Gender Markers

As of July 9, 2019, Nova Scotians can now update their gender markers on their birth certificate, provincial ID, driver’s license, and health card. Gender markers can be changed to ‘F’, ‘M’, or ‘X’.

If it is your first time changing your gender marker, you can do so free of charge.

The Nova Scotia ‘Gender Marker’ section will be updated to reflect these changes shortly.
